Biomass Gas & Electric Company announces a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) recently signed with Georgia Power to provide the utility with electric power. A 25-megawatt renewable energy plant will be built next to a construction wood waste landfill in a suburb north of Atlanta . The advanced technology BG&E is using follows a two-step process. First, biomass is superheated in an extremely low oxygen environment to produce a synthetic gas. Then this gas is used to produce steam to operate the power turbines in order to generate electricity.
