Two national solar companies that focus on residential and business installations have announced they will begin operating in North Carolina. The state has the fourth-largest solar market in the country, comprised of mostly utility-scale installations. Residential solar has been stifled by regulations that prevent homeowners from financing solar through a third party, but the legislature may change that before the state tax credit expires in 2016.
