Dr. Joseph Smiddy was recognized as the Unsung Hero at the Heroes in Healthcare Awards Ceremony held on May 26. The Unsung Hero award is given to an individual who has helped to provide care for uninsured Virginia residents.
Smiddy is one of the few doctors working with The Health Wagon, a nonprofit mobile clinic that provides health care and screenings to medically underserved residents in City of Norton, and Dickenson, Buchanan, Russell, Scott and Wise counties of Virginia.
