In the wake of the tragic tornados that devastated communities in western Kentucky last week, our friends at Kentuckians for the Commonwealth are curating a growing list of ways to help. According to KFTC, “The immediate needs in Kentucky are enormous, but so is the outpouring of care.”
Below are a few of the many ways you can donate or lend a hand. Find the full list at bit.ly/WKYDEC21
Kentucky Civic Engagement Table, Black Leadership Action Coalition of Kentucky, and others are raising funds to sustainably support disaster relief efforts in Western Kentucky. All funds raised will be directed to grassroots groups supporting short-term and long-term mutual aid and disaster relief. They will prioritize groups that serve Kentuckians who may otherwise be neglected by other relief efforts, particularly Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Refugee, Immigrant, and poor and working class Kentuckians.
To make a monetary donation to help immigrant and refugee Kentuckians get back on their feet, or to assist with the purchase of supplies, text the word GIVE to 502-230-9464, then follow the instructions and choose the BG Tornado Donations fund.

Kentuckians – including members of KFTC staff, climate canvassing crew, and just transition fellows – lost loved ones, homes, and their sense of safety this weekend. We’re raising funds to support our team. All donations made at this link will be given to KFTC staff, climate canvassers, and just transition fellows impacted by the storm. Any additional funds beyond their needs will be given to other relief efforts.
Help take care of Kentuckians’ immediate needs today and strengthen our commitment to ending the climate crisis. Let’s choose each other.
