Indiana’s Hardwood Industry to Get Boost From Grant

[ Indiana ] Indiana’s hardwood products economy received a boost in the form of $202,088 in grants for 105 projects spread over 52 counties. The first of its kind, the state-funded Indiana Woodland Restoration Program uses money from timber sales to improve or restore 5,886 acres of forest. The purpose of the project is to promote the state’s hardwood economy by aiding private landowners in planting new forests and improving the health of private forests already standing. The hardwood products industry is Indiana’s single largest agricultural sector at 4 to 5 billion dollars a year.
