Internships
Interns are a crucial part of our work protecting the Appalachian region. Our internships are known for providing students with a thorough and rewarding experience of working in the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit campaign.
Internships can be completed for academic credit through an approved school program, or for extra work experience without academic ties. Internships are paid, and include a mix of on-site and remote/hybrid work, depending on the position.
Our internships span the gamut of nonprofit work, such as organizing with our on-the-ground campaigns, conducting data-driven research, assisting with our communications team, writing for our journalistic publication, The Appalachian Voice, helping with our outreach program, and more. Our internships have included:

About Appalachian Voices
Appalachian Voices is a nonprofit advocacy organization that works to achieve an Appalachia with healthy, intact ecosystems and advance a just transition to a generative and equitable clean energy economy. We currently have over 40 staff members across the region, with offices located in Boone, North Carolina, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Norton, Virgina.
