In 2023, we saw immense traction in all areas of our work, and are working to expand on our impact throughout 2024. Among many successes, we celebrated the development of a new recreation area in Dante, Virginia, which closed dangerous mine portals and added a new playground, trail system, and recreation area that will spur economic growth for the community.
We also secured historic progress deploying federal investments in clean energy and ensuring communities and rural electricity providers can access these opportunities to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. And we’re standing up to newly proposed fossil fuel buildout in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, while continuing to monitor and fight ongoing projects.
